The Best Time To Visit

November to April

The best time to visit Cambodia and Vietnam is from November to April. In Cambodia, the weather is dry and pleasant, especially from December to February. In Vietnam, this period is ideal for most regions: the north (Hanoi, Ha Long Bay) is cool, the central region (Hue, Hoi An) is warm and dry, and the south (Ho Chi Minh City, Mekong Delta) is sunny with little rain. This timeframe offers the best conditions for travel to both countries.

Day 2 – Hanoi

Welcome to Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. Our guide and driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.

Start your day with a traditional Vietnamese breakfast of Hanoi-style Pho, a fragrant noodle soup beloved by locals.

Next, we’ll take a visit to the iconic Train Street, a narrow alley where trains pass incredibly close to the buildings on either side. The alley is so narrow that residents must clear the tracks of personal belongings—bicycles, children, and anything else—before the train passes through. Locals often sit on the tracks, sipping tea and playing checkers, making this a fascinating spot to soak in the local atmosphere.

Our journey continues with a visit to Quang Phu Cau, an incense-making village that has been a hub of traditional craftsmanship for over a century. This picturesque village is famous for its vibrant red incense sticks drying in the open air, providing a stunning backdrop for photography. You’ll have the opportunity to capture images of the workers amid this sea of red, and explore the workshops where bamboo is chopped, incense sticks are dipped in dye, and paste is created. Along the way, you’ll meet the friendly locals who have been practising this craft for generations, offering a glimpse into the heart of their artisanal traditions.

Afterwards, we’ll return to Hanoi city centre for a delicious lunch featuring Cha Ca La Vong, a renowned Hanoi speciality.

The rest of the afternoon is free for you to relax or explore at your leisure.

Day 3 – Hanoi → Ha Long Bay Cruise

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay by shuttle bus provided by the cruise (no guide en route). Upon arrival, you’ll meet at Heritage Line’s lounge at Tuan Chau Marina. A short speedboat transfer will then take you to your luxurious floating home, the starting point for your exploration of Lan Ha Bay and Cat Ba Island.

As we sail deeper into the bay, lunch will be served in the elegant dining room, bathed in natural light and offering almost 360-degree views of the stunning seascape. Afterward, relax on the terrace deck or your private balcony, taking in the surreal surroundings.

Mooring near Cat Ba Island, we’ll visit a floating fishing village, home to about 200 residents across 70 houses, including a stop at a local family home. Continuing our journey, we’ll head ashore to Viet Hai Village, nestled in a picturesque valley surrounded by jungle-clad mountains. A cycling tour through the valley offers a fascinating glimpse into the secluded lifestyle of the local community, which remains self-sufficient, cultivating vegetables, fruits, and fishing on the bay.

Returning to the ship, we’ll set sail to our overnight anchorage in Lan Ha Bay. The ship’s chef will host a hands-on cooking class in the dining room, showcasing the preparation of classic Vietnamese dishes using fresh, local ingredients.

As the evening unfolds, unwind at the bar with a digestif, or join the crew for some lighthearted squid fishing before retiring to your suite.

Paddle through this enchanting marine landscape, where towering cliffs rise dramatically from the water, and experience the freedom of gliding through a labyrinth of jade-green waters, rocks, and lush, tree-covered islets.

Afterwards, enjoy a hearty breakfast or brunch on board as we cruise back to the disembarkation point. From there, a speedboat will transfer you back to the pier. Take a moment to relax on the terrace deck and savour the last views of this remarkable journey.

Take a boat trip through the caves for beautiful landscape.

Visit Bich Dong pagoda nearby and climb up the mountain to have a wonderful perspective view of the Bich Dong and Tam Coc.

Then, visit Hoa Lu ancient capital. It was the first centralized feudal state in Vietnam at the end of the 10th century. The ravages of time have destroyed the ancient citadel but some vestiges including King Dinh and King Le worship temples still stand to this day among the rice paddies and are a worthwhile visit to get a glimpse of the ancient Vietnamese past.
