The best time to visit Rajasthan is during the winter months from October to March, when the weather is pleasantly cool, with daytime temperatures ranging from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F). This season is ideal for sightseeing and participating in vibrant festivals like Diwali and Holi, as well as the Jaipur Literature Festival. Day 1: Arrive in Delhi, fly to Jaisalmer

Welcome to India! Upon your arrival in Delhi, you’ll take your connecting flight to Jaisalmer. Upon arrival in Jaisalmer, meet and greet at the airport, followed by a transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore independently or relax. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Jaisalmer

After breakfast at the hotel, embark on a city tour of Jaisalmer. Founded in 1156 by Prince Jaisal, this desert town is renowned for its golden-hued walls and medieval ambiance. The “Golden Fort” rises from the barren Thar Desert, with its intricately carved Jain temples, palaces, and havelis. The havelis, such as Nathmalji-ki-Haveli, Patwon-ki-Haveli, and Salim Singh-ki-Haveli, showcase stunning facades, ornate carvings, and intricate latticework.

Later, enjoy an excursion to Kuldhara, an abandoned village with a mysterious past. Once inhabited by Paliwal Brahmins, the village was deserted under enigmatic circumstances, and is now famed as a haunted site. Afterward, visit the Kanoi Dunes to witness a spectacular desert sunset. As the sun sets, the sky transforms into a blend of golden and red hues, providing a perfect opportunity for photographers. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Jaisalmer to Manvar

After breakfast, drive to Manvar (160 km, approx. 2.5 hours). Upon arrival, check in at the luxury camp and enjoy a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a thrilling desert safari in the Manvar Desert, located about 10 km from the camp. This protected 250-acre area features soft, warm sand dunes, home to diverse wildlife. With the help of experienced local drivers, explore hidden trails and spot a variety of plants, birds, and invertebrates. The safari offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the desert ecosystem. Return to the camp for a flavorful dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Manvar to Jodhpur

After breakfast, drive to Jodhpur (123 km, approx. 2.5 hours). Upon arrival, check in at your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a private guided tour of Mehrangarh Fort, a massive fortress offering stunning views of the city. Explore its palaces, adorned with intricate engravings, latticework, and mirror designs, and visit the museum displaying rare miniature paintings, palanquins, and a solid silver “howdah” presented by a Mughal emperor. Continue with a photo stop at Jaswant Thada, a cluster of royal cenotaphs in white marble. Later, embark on a Walk of the Blue City, where you’ll wander through narrow alleyways, interact with locals, and explore the vibrant old bazaar filled with Rajasthani textiles, handicrafts, pottery, and silver jewelry. Day 5: Jodhpur to Udaipur (via Ranakpur)

After breakfast, drive to Udaipur (245 km, approx. 5 hours). En route, visit the Ranakpur Jain Temples, renowned for their architectural beauty and serene location in the Aravali valley. Built in the 15th century, the temples feature 1,444 intricately carved pillars, each unique. Explore the Surya Temple and other nearby Jain Temples, set amidst peaceful surroundings. After the visit, continue your journey to Udaipur and check in at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: Udaipur to Jaipur (by flight)

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a private guided tour of Udaipur, often referred to as the “City of Lakes” for its picturesque setting in the Aravalli Hills. Begin your day with a visit to the City Palace, a grand complex with highlights such as Suraj Gokhada, Badi Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Mor Chowk (peacock courtyard), and Zenana Mahal. Then, explore the nearby Jagdish Temple, famous for its intricately sculpted figures and ornate interiors. Finally, visit the Sahelion ki Bari Gardens, a historic garden designed for 48 maids who accompanied the Maharana’s wife.

Day 8: Jaipur to Agra via Fateh Sikri

After breakfast, drive to Agra with a stop at Abhaneri to explore one of the largest stepwells in the world, built in the 8th century with 3,500 symmetrical steps. Continue to Fatehpur Sikri, Emperor Akbar’s abandoned city, where you can explore well-preserved Mughal structures like the Jama Masjid and the tomb of Salim Chisti. In the late afternoon, visit the iconic Taj Mahal at sunset, a white marble masterpiece built by Shah Jahan in 1632 in memory of his queen Mumtaz Mahal. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 9: Agra

Day 11: Delhi

Next, visit Humayun’s Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage site, before heading to one of India’s most expensive retail streets. Here, you can shop for Indian-themed clothes, books, and enjoy lunch at one of the many fun restaurants and cafes (payable locally). In the afternoon, experience Old Delhi with a Street Food Tour. Ride a cycle rickshaw through the bustling lanes of Chawri Bazar and Chandni Chowk, visiting select food stalls to sample local dishes such as Jalebis, Aloo Chaat, Parantha, Phirni (rice pudding), and Kulfi ice cream.
