Caravelle Saigon

This old war correspondents’ hotel is redolent with history – being used as the HQ for many of the big U.S news Corporations in the War. The rooftop bar is the most famous in Saigon and still serves superb cocktails with a view. The location – next to the French Opera House, is second to none. The hotel has two wings – the original 1959 art deco building – brimming over with style, and a big modern tower which is less historic and character-filled but which has superb views from the upper storeys. Rooms are all fitted and furnished in a late 1960s mode – with period sofas, cabinets, pile carpets and lighting. The lobby is plush and doubles up as an attractive lounge area. Great for a taste of old Saigon.
