After breakfast this morning, you will head south of Toraja to explore two traditional villages and their fascinating surroundings. Begin with a drive to Lemo and Suaya villages, where towering cliffs are punctured with graves and realistic tau tau (hanging effigies) of deceased nobility. These cliffs are often referred to as “the death at the balconies” due to the precarious location of the tombs.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, visit Londa village, where wooden coffins are suspended by ropes and poles from the cliffs. Then, proceed to Ketekesu, a village known for its impressive collection of Tongkonan (Toraja traditional houses). These boat-shaped houses with tall, curved roofs made from slender bristles create striking silhouettes against the sky. The facades of the Tongkonan are adorned with intricate carved and painted motifs, and buffalo head carvings decorate the wealthiest homes. Ketekesu also features a traditional rice granary, showcasing the Toraja way of life.
