Day 4: Kirindy > Tsingy
Today, you’ll enjoy a day walk in Kirindy, home to one of Madagascar’s most remarkable and endangered habitats: the dry deciduous forest. These forests, now reduced to just 3% of their original extent, are characterized by towering baobab trees and a 14-meter-high forest canopy. This protected area, covering approximately 100 square kilometers, is the only place in the world where you can find the giant jumping rat. This fascinating creature hops like a miniature kangaroo but can also walk on all fours.
Kirindy is renowned as the best location in Madagascar to observe Fossas, particularly during their mating season from October to December. The reserve also boasts seven species of lemur, including the common brown lemur and Verreaux’s sifaka. The nocturnal species include the rare Coquerel’s giant mouse lemur, pygmy mouse lemur, fork-crowned lemur, gray mouse lemur, western fat-tailed dwarf lemur, and red-tailed sportive lemur. Kirindy’s biodiversity also features several bats, tenrecs, mongooses, rodents, over 40 bird species, 50 reptiles, and 15 amphibian species, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts.
After your walk, you’ll travel to Bekopaka, stopping along the way to savor delicious Malagasy cuisine at Belo’s famed “Mad Zebu” Restaurant. The total travel time to Bekopaka will be approximately six hours.

Day 5: Tsingy
After an early breakfast, you’ll set out to explore the breathtaking Tsingy Bemaraha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most extraordinary natural landscapes on Earth. This vast limestone massif has been sculpted over millennia into dramatic karst pinnacles, forming a unique “forest” of limestone needles, deep canyons carved by the Manambolo River, rolling hills, and towering peaks. The park’s undisturbed forests, lakes, and mangrove swamps serve as habitats for a variety of rare and endangered lemurs.
With your guide, you’ll trek the soft circuit, immersing yourself in the park’s astounding biodiversity. Tsingy Bemaraha is a paradise for nature lovers, boasting exceptional endemism and diversity. Scientists estimate that 86.7% of its species are endemic, with 47% unique to the ecoregion. Among its 11 lemur species are Decken’s sifakas, red-fronted brown lemurs, Cleese’s woolly lemurs, and more. The park is also home to five families of bats, 103 species of birds, and an impressive array of reptiles and amphibians, with all 34 recorded species being endemic.
This is just a glimpse of the wonders awaiting you in this remarkable landscape, a true gem of Madagascar. Overnight and dinner at hotel.

Day 6: Bekopaka > Morondava
Early in the morning you will take a pirogue trip on the Manambolo River gorge. This river marks the entry way to the Tsingy. Crossing of the Manambolo River by dugout canoe showcases an array of landscapes, gorges and canyons. You will visit the caves where you can look out for the fish eagles, waterfowl, Humblot’s herons and purple herons.
After breakfast you will travel to Belo en route to Morondava’s “Alley of Baobabs or Avenue of the Baobabs’’. We will have lunch in Belo and continue our journey to the avenue of Baobabs. Travel time will be approximately 8 hours.
“Alley of Baobabs or Avenue of the Baobabs’’ is one of the Madagascar’s picture post card images. Baobabs (Grandidiers) are usually solitary trees, standing tall and proud in the midst of empty spaces. Yet in Baobab Alley, they cluster together forming an avenue of columns that border the dirty road. The Baobabs are tall trees with its massive trucks, crooked branches and furry fruit. Baobabs have adapted to the dry and hostile environment. The secret of the baobab’s success in surviving in harsh environments and the reason for its massive trunk is that it has little wood fibre but a large water storage capacity. Each tree can hold up to 300 litres of water, enabling it to live through long periods without rain. The life-cycle of these unique natural oddities is as impressive as their bulk – most live over 500 years.
We will stop to see the sunset at the Avenue of the Baobabs.
